Melbourne Venue Struggle

News comes today that Melbourne will be loosing it’s forth live music venue this year.
Pony announced today that as of  December 2nd they will be closing their doors after 12 years of supplying Melbournians with live music.
Pony is the latest to fall this year, joining other iconic music venues like The East Brunswick.

Pony Bar is iconic in Melbourne as being the late night early morning hang out with live bands playing until 4-5am and staying open till 7am. It is one of the better known late night venues around spotting reference in the Bedroom Philosopher‘s song “Northcote So Hungover” It is seen as one of the more popular hang out in Melbourne and so far not being taken very well through social media.

Pony becomes the forth live music venue to completely shut its doors this year along side The East Brunswick, The Barleycorn and The Blue Tile Lounge.

Aria Nominations for 2012

The official nominations have been released for this year Aria Awards.

Foo Fighters done fighting.

 

Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl has made another announcement about whether or not Foo Fighters will continue to play together. While playing Global Citizen Festival in New York’s Central Park on Saturday. Dave Grohl told an estimated 60,000-plus fans that “this is it.”

He continued to say “Without making a big deal out of it, we don’t have any shows after this. This is it, man,” before charging into “Learn to Fly,” their fourth song of the night. “Honestly, I don’t know when we’re gonna do it again… and this is the perfect place to do it.”

There has been no official statement from the band as to when and if they will ever play again.

Green Day: Still Punk Rock?

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has gone into rehab just days before the band was to release one of 3 up-coming albums. This come after Armstrong and the band cut short a performance of their ’94 hit song “Basket Case” at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. He stated he wanted to play an new song before the digital ticker anounced “1 minute” to the band.

Armstrong replied by holloring “I’ve been around since F%*king 1980 F%*king 8 and you’re going to give me one F%*king minute?… I’m not F%*king Justine Beiber”

An official statement released by Green Day on their website.
“Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse,” read the statement. “We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas.  We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances.”

Birds Of Tokyo – Teaser

Birds of Tokyo have released a trailer for their up and coming Album due in March 2013.

“In order to move on and grow as a band we needed to sit down with each other this time around and really challenge each other and push ourselves in directions that, individually, we may not have wanted to go down,” says drummer Adam Weston.

They will also be releasing their first music since their ARIA award winning self titled album.
